Winter Wondering

Each season of the year brings new fashion trends, styles, and colors, and as of yesterday it is officially Winter. If you're lucky enough to live in an area where it is warm in the winter months, you don't have to worry about bundling up to go dig out your car in the morning. For most, winter means UGG boots and North Faces for the next few months which can get quite boring.  Good news fashionistas! I have a crucial piece that can help you keep your wardrobe hot when the temperatures cool down. Drum roll please...... The BLAZER! Purchasing a simple blazer can save you from the seasonal fashion slump, and I promise you it will be a worthy investment. The great thing about a blazer is that is offers a level of versatility that you won't find in most pieces of clothing. Wear it over a knit sweater to add an extra layer of warmth on casual days. This will give you a stylish edge to your outfit. For winter holiday dinner parties, simply throw a blazer on over a party dress that would otherwise be too chilly to wear alone. For a professional look when you have to spend your days in the office, or have an important presentation to ace, wear a blazer to wow your audience and co-workers. No matter what the season, a blazer can help you keep style in your life!

Here are some examples of how many different ways YOU can wear a blazer.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK - JASMINE ASH

Artist of the Week:

I am starting off this week with Jasmine Ash as my proclaimed ARTIST OF THE WEEK.

This Cali based indie artist hales from Portland, Oregon.

Ash’s style can be described as light, dreamlike and soothing. This upcoming starlit has the underground indie music and style on lock. The combination of her effervescent voice and her fanciful lyrics practically spews fairy dust out of your speakers. But don’t let her crooning catch you off guard when you begin to analyze her lyrics.

In her brand spankin’ new release (new as in yesterday) “Give A Little Less” the artist sweetly speaks to the audience, “Give a little less, give a little less, it’s never going to get any better than this”.  If her voice wasn’t so ethereal the honesty in this song might be a little heavy… The contrast of her dark lyrics and angelic voice make for one amazing lyrical masterpiece.

Ash creates music that is real, relatable and applicable to everyday life. The lyrics flow seamlessly together and tug at your heartstrings.

Like Taylor Swift who eases the minds of all the simply natural girls with cowboy boots on and a hairbrush to their mouth lipsycing the words to Tswift’s most recent heartbreak inspired love song; Ash speaks volumes to that girl in her room dancing around in her combat boots and blunt bangs waiting for someone to just understand. (okay maybe that’s just me…)

Two of her three released singles: Starlight and Lulls are available to purchase on Itunes..(BUY her music, I promise it’s worth it..and we all want to support the different, right? RIGHT)

Ash’s new album "Beneath The Noise" is set to release on Valentine’s Day 2012 (hint hint, wink wink…perfect gift idea..)

So stick around, wear your heart on your sleeve and listen up! Jasmine Ash will be lulling you into the starlight soon enough.

Hello World

Since I was a little girl, when girls were scribbling their first names and the last names of their daily crush, I was sketching fashion designs. In high school when I wore heels to a relatively small town high school I got snarky remarks and giggles as I passed. None of that seemed to matter as I got home and opened up my latest fashion magazine looking at the pages of models sprawled across high gloss paper, inviting me in with open arms, open arms dripping in designer fashions. I was hooked.

It’s not so bad, having a “healthy” addiction to entertainment, right? I think its perfectly normal to spend hours checking out the latest trends in fashion, the latest and greatest in the music industry, and whos hot on the silver screen…okay maybe not normal, but acceptable? Acceptable, yes we will go with that.

Luckily in my college years I met someone with as unhealthy, I mean normal addiction to fashion, trends, and going against the grain. Miss Mod Chic and I were suddenly a perfect pair like this season’s lace up combat boots and a devil may care attitude. Needless to say we compliment each other.

Growing up is all about making mistakes and learning from them. Each bit of life that we go through is one more experience that makes us who we are. I suppose that means all of my fashion mistakes I made when I was younger were a good thing! Lucky for me the pieces of my life have fallen together just like the pieces of my outfits do on the daily. From surfing the web and thrift stores for the best mod/vintage pieces to rummaging through racks at a local mall, I have made this fashion adventure I call life, a passion of mine.  Trends change and so do seasons, but never change yourself and what you believe in for anyone. Please  your own eyes and not the eyes of others, because only then will you discover who you truly are.

XoRedLipsFierceKicks and I are here to inspire those who are willing to take the plunge into the fashion world.  We will show you the ropes of what it takes to be a fashionista who is confident in their skin….and their clothes! Be ready to be bold people. Ready or not, here we come.

Through this blog you will get the view on current hot topics through the eyes of two independent and fashion obsessed girls. Our view may be different than yours, sometimes our views are different from each other, but from now on, you will always be in the know. So throw on your lace up combats, your stillettos, or your chic flats and follow us into the world of the wonderful: Fashion, Music, and Entertainment.
